Laying hens are not particularly suitable as meat for slaughter, as the meat is too lean and tough. Therefore, they are currently used as biofuel. And that's a shame, because they are excellent for making stock.

We take in as many retired laying hens as possible, so they are not simply disposed of as biofuel.

In the dairy industry, only a few breeding bulls are needed to ensure the continued reproduction of dairy cattle. The remaining male calves are raised and used as beef cattle. We take in as many bones from these calves as possible, so they don't go to waste.

Strict requirements are set for the shape, color, and size of the produce that growers must meet in order to be sold. This results in the waste of good ingredients. We acquire vegetables and mushrooms from some of the country's leading suppliers of high-quality organic products. And there's plenty of it!

Along the Danish coasts, 12 billion shore crabs are thriving, and their numbers are increasing every day. Many of them are invasive species that disrupt the marine environment for the natural population of fish and shellfish. They are considered pests, so when fishermen catch them in their nets, they are not allowed to throw the crabs back into the sea. Consequently, the shore crabs become waste when they are brought ashore.
